Sleepless in Snow

It’s snowing again. It’s beautiful and I know it. But I don’t know that I can appreciate it the way I should.

I’ve been up since 3:00 am. It’s now 6:09 am. Alex has been up in our room since 3…I think. Maybe earlier? He squished me against Zach and Zach against falling out of bed. He tossed, turned, flapped, hand-ringed and jammed himself into me. Sigh. No sleep.

This is Zach’s first day off, so he needs to sleep. I got up with Alex and tried to appease him back to sleep to no avail. We’ve gone through a number of obsessions this morning already:

Milk, Candy Cane, Candy, going potty to get candy (which he tried every 2 minutes to no avail…I think he believes that it’s something I can make him do rather than something that comes to him), watching cartoons, watching airplane videos and now, going in the car “to the store”. Did I mention that we’re still going back to watching airplane videos (with the sounds of gunfire while he flies one of his toy planes…in my ear). “Can I go to school?”, “where’s xxx”, (his friend that he’s recently obsessed with), “can I go trick or treating” and around and around, over and over; non-stop; no break; no end in sight.

The good thing is that I am caught up on all my online activities. The ironic thing is that I just answered a post on CafeMom where a mother of a special need 20s month old was asking about sleeping through the night and if it would ever come. Most of us answered a resounding, “we hope so but don’t count on it”.

So now, I’m off to enjoy the beautiful, but to be much underappreciated, snow by driving him in it. I’m so taking a nap today!

Firstly, that snowflake photo is soooo beautiful.

Secondly, thanks for popping by my blog again. I so love your visits adn comments.

Thirdly, have you slept? Did Alex sleep? Did Zach sleep?

How much did it snow?

And yes, one day you will SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT! Which reminds me of something funny another mom said. "When I finally woke up from sleep deprivation..."

It will happen (and before you know it.)

Oh, I hope you got your nap today—I can live vicariously through you! I wanted one all day long. We were hanging out at this gym where a friend teaches, it was heaven, we had an ENTIRE kiddie gym to ourselves for two hours. I tried to sprawl out on a mat and close my eyes, but the kids kept using me as a trampoline.

I haven't had a good nights sleep in, oh, I don't know how long, and our family bed is the reason why, this is the post I did! http://lovethatmax.blogspot.com/2008/11/family-bed-aka-my-wild-and-crazy-night.html

Jannie: Thank you. I love your blog and visiting it! I did get some sleep. I tried to get Alex to sleep - nope. Crazy! Zach refuses to nap, says that it's a waste of his days off, so they kept each other company.

It snowed like 5 inches. It was nice. I didn't want it to stop, but it seems it will be coming again too soon.

Thanks for the sleep encouragement. I hope to get more on a regular basis SOON!

Ellen: The nap seemed too short, but was so appreciated! Sorry you didn't get one. Being a trampoline is never restful. (smiles. Thanks for the link to the post.
